The rhythm of the street will be heard at Dancing with the Cars, a gala celebration of UAF and Fairbanks community to be held at the Fountainhead Antique Auto Museum, 212 Wedgewood Drive, Fairbanks. The dynamic percussion of the Street Beat theater troupe will compliment the classic elegance of the golden age of automobile design when the two come together at the Chancellor's Gala.
Cars, vintage fashion, and Alaskan history under one roof. The Fountainhead Museum collection features over 60 historically significant automobiles produced in the United States prior to World War II. Can you believe U.S. car manufacturers used electric, internal combusion, and gas powered motors as early as the late 1800s? Historical Alaskan photographs line the walls and a vintage fashion collection follows the cars through time.
Street Beat creator Ben Hansen and his 10-member company of drummers, musicians and dancers perform what critics have called an “urbanized journey through percussion.” Using ordinary items such as buckets, trash cans or a set of car rims, Street Beat performers combine urban rhythms, hip-hop moves and break-dance acrobatics.
Join Chancellor Brian Rogers and Sherry Modrow for fine food, fabulous antique autos, music, dancing, live auction and a preview of the Fairbanks Concert Association’s performance by Street Beat.
Tickets: $75 per person or $60 per person for two or more. The cost of each ticket is tax deductible less $45.00 for the cost of goods and services.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the UAF Arctic Innovation Competition and Doyon Foundation scholarships.
Tickets are available online at the UAF website.
