So here’s how it happened:
We’ve been presenting Celtic music events with great regularity and great success for a number of years now and your response has been split between those who love it and those who point out that we are doing this consistently and maybe we should take a break. We had good intentions to take a break this year and use it as an opportunity to expand our world music program to other parts of the country besides Ireland, and then, well, then along came Solas.
Leone Hatch, a member of the artist selection committee and our board’s leading expert on world music, had advocated for Solas back when Jason was at FCA. So when Anchorage Concert Association decided to bring them up (and with much enthusiasm from Leone!) we decided, ok, we can hold off on the non-Celtic season for now. Maybe we’ll take a break next year and maybe we won’t. We’ll decide that when we see who’s available next year.
