We just received this note in the mail:

Dear Anne,

Thank you so much for doing such a fabulous job.

The concerts have all been wonderful, but, I must say, the Eileen Ivers one really took the prize.

Its a week later, & I am still tapping my toes & dancing around the house to her music.

Thanks again -

Carole Romberg

Thanks for your note Carole! It always makes my day to hear from you. I feel the same about Eileen, in fact, I'm listening to her now.

Happy Holidays,

Anne

This was from a recent survey:

Last year we brought our son when he was 10 months to see the Lazer Vaudeville show. He was so amazed by it. I watched his face more than the show. I realized then that we have to bring him every year to the family show. One because they're so much fun and two it will show him all the fun things in the world.

This was from Cantus:

Anne and Rhonda,

Thanks so much for a great experience in Fairbanks.  You were wonderful hosts and were are so pleased that everything came off so well.

The concert at Davis was fantastic and the run outs were so well organized that everything just worked like clockwork.  That's especially impressive considering it was the first trip to Healy!

As we travelled today we reflected on how incredibly grateful the folks in Delta and Healy were that we came to THEIR town.  I think it's an innovative and truly rewarding model and a model that is likely highly fundable.  It might be a tough sell to some artists, but what you give up in acoustics and "ambiance" you make back tenfold in enthusiasm and gratitude--not to mention the billion dollar views on the van rides to and from the venues.

Thanks again for being truly wonderful hosts.  You went above the call of duty, showing us the sights.  That was very kind.

Peace,

Aaron

Cantus

More than 200 people attended the performance by CANTUS in Healy last night. It was a huge success. Thank you for making it possible for folks in the Denali Borough to experience this kind of quality performance in our own backyard. We had people in the audience from as far away as Cantwell and Anderson. Below are a few photos from last night.

Thank you from the Denali Arts & Humanities Alliance and from me personally. I know that this kind of event is an investment in our community and certainly in our youth. Our commitment to arts/humanities is already paying off - just be seeing the number of teens who came on their own last night!

Thank you again!

Kris Capps

This is a thank you sent to all staff at Denali Borough School District by their music teacher - sounds like everyone is talking about the Cantus performance. Hooray!

Hello! I just wanted to say "thank you" from the music side of life to all who attended and helped with the Cantus performance on Tuesday night...

Big thanks to Kris Capps for setting the whole deal up!

I was especially stoked by the amount of student musicians, faculty, and parents who came to rave about the performance yesterday! Favorites were the potato song and the boomwhacker song...

Yay all singers, especially male vocalists who encourage our boys to keep on singin'!

musical love, candace!

Dear Anne,

Thank you for giving the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship the opportunity to work with the Concert Association in hosting Yuval Ron. The many positive responses from those who attended, including myself, gave us a feeling of deep satisfaction and spiritual uplift. When we meet people that are finding deep connections between formerly divided peoples, hope abides for a more peaceful world. Let us know if and when they return. There were many people who would like to have come, but were not able. And the positive stories about them spread, making others wish they had come. So thanks again and keep in touch. I'm glad that you, of all people, are involved in this. What a perfect fit!

...Randy Smith went to see the Yuval Ron Ensemble play...OH MY GOSH that was amazing! Yuval Ron is from Israel and plays music from all over the Middle East. He plays one of my all time favorite instruments...the oud!  Click here to see a video of Yuval Ron on the oud and Jamie Papish (who played percussion yesterday.) Also, click here to see an upclose shot of the oud. At the performance, they also had a Whirlling Dervish...that was AMAZING!! (Here is a video.) This is a type of prayer that, instead of words to comunicate with the devine, uses movement. The Whirlling Dervish that we saw was spinning for more than 5 minutes straight. That evening, I was invited to a church where the Yuval Ron Ensemble was giving a lecture....and I was blown away. I had the oportunity to meet them all and talk with them about the music. Yuval Ron is a very powerful speaker who has spent his entire life spreading the word of peace. Asking all the religions of the world to join hands and forget about their wars...and become one with the music. Very moving!

"The performance that you and your team delivered the other night in Fairbanks revived the town after a 100 year of a death. We want you back in Fairbanks. I will check with Anna and the other students organizations on the campus and see what can we do".

"Everyone I have talked to who had the pleasure of attending the concert or one of your other events have been very complimentary. I will be lobbying the Anchorage Concert Association and any other group who brings up musical groups to bring you and your wonderful associates back to Anchorage. I hope to convince others who enjoyed your programs to start begging for your return also."

"When the Ensemble was in Fairbanks they presented this poem of Rumi’s at a pre-concert visit, and it was so beautiful how the Ensemble presented it."
