Passing the Hat Continues

These are challenging times, for FCA and for many non-profits in our community. In an effort to help, FCA started our Passing the Hat project. It was met with your usual enthusiastic support and we wondered “where to from here?”

Over the summer, the North Star Community Foundation got involved by offering us a matching grant. We have worked out the details and are so pleased to report to you how this will work:

When you donate to the non-profit organization of your choice, through the Passing the Hat project, the North Star Community Foundation will match your donation to that organization and give an equal donation to FCA. Now, you get to choose. We have a list of organizations who wanted to be included available in our lobby. When you donate to them, North Star Community Foundation will match your gift to both that organization and to FCA. You get to triple the value of your donation and support two causes you care about.

As an added incentive, the North Star Community Foundation will also contribute a grant writing workshop to the organization receiving the greatest number of donations. This adds staff development and capacity building to the pot and makes it a fun challenge to see who can garner the most support. (Note: not the largest dollar amount).

We hope this grant is used up quickly and are already looking for ways to keep “the Hat” going ‘round. If you have any questions, please find us in the lobby and thanks for passing the hat!
